What is the Sports Premium?

The government has provided sports funding over the last few years and will continue into 2019-20. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and has seen money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

What is the purpose of the funding?

Schools have had to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have had the freedom to choose how they do this.

UK Sport:

The specialist sports coaches have worked after school with the children on a number of clubs targeting specific age groups (KS1, KS2) each half term. Specialist Sports coaches also attend every lunchtime providing various sports and dance activities for the children of KS1 and KS2 to participate in.

Kerry Axon:

Kerry has been running 10 week gymnastics sessions for the children in KS1 and KS2 over the year. This year the children who take part are now at a level where they are able to complete their BAGA gymnastics awards.

New Equipment for Key Stage 2:

This year 2018 we had installed a Jungle Gym for the children in KS2 to use to develop their core strength.
