The Governing Body

We have a fantastic group of school governors. Each Governor has responsibility for a particular subject and is a member of one or more of the sub-committees which specialise in issues related to the Curriculum, Finance, Premises, Admissions and Staffing. 

The Governing Body was reconstituted on 13^th May 2015.  The structure of the Governing Body is as follows:

Jane Roberts – Chair

I was appointed as a Foundation Governor in March 2017. I am a retired pharmacist and am very involved in my own parish in Bramhall. I also volunteer locally at Chelwood Foodbank.  I helped out in Yr1 initially to become familiar with the school staff and how the school runs and I take part in regular governor training sessions. I am always impressed by the good behaviour of the children and their engagement with their lessons. It is vitally important to support all our children to be independent and confident learners and give them the skills to fulfil their potential and expand their horizons and become productive and caring adults.

Louise Fox – Parent Governor

Hi everyone. My name is Louise Fox and I have been a parent governor at St Ambrose now for almost two years. I’ve watched how the school community including Pupils, Staff and Governors have come together to support each other through the challenging times we’ve all been facing. I have a child in year 5 and family connections to the school for many years. I run my own small business and understand how difficult the “juggle” is for many parents and hope to bring that lived experience to the benefit of the governing board.

Bernadette Knight – Staff Governor

My name is Mrs Bernadette Knight. I am Staff Governor here at Saint Ambrose.

I am a practising and committed Catholic teacher who has been teaching for 28 years and I have worked in 4 schools in Stockport and Manchester.

I have taught across the Key stages and have held various senior roles.

I have been Deputy Head teacher at St Ambrose for 14 years and I am the Reading Leader, English Coordinator, Assessment lead and RE Coordinator.

Margaret McCann – Foundation Governor

I have been a foundation governor since 2020 and am a retired teacher with many years of experience of working with children who have mental health issues.

I enjoy being an active member of St Vincent’s Parish and also volunteer at ARC, an arts and mental health charity in Stockport.

As a foundation governor, I hope to use my experience to support the Headteacher and staff in helping the children to reach their full potential.

Caroline Gibson – Parent Governor

I'm Caroline Gibson and I'm a parent governor at St Ambrose. I have 2 children, Violet who is in year 4 and a toddler. I also work at a specialist setting in Manchester for children with SEMH needs. I am really passionate about inclusion and family support. I really enjoy being part of the St Ambrose community, I feel like everyone is really friendly and welcoming.
