This half term we are learning:



  • Count objects to 100 and read and write numbers in numerals and words
  • Tens and ones with a part whole model
  • Tens and ones using addition
  • Use a place value chart
  • Compare and order objects and numbers
  • Count in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s

English: We are going to become reporters! The children will write and perform a news broadcast from the scene
of the Great Fire of London

RE: Chosen People. Children will have the opportunity to be aware that they are chosen and gifted by God. They will know that they can thank God for choosing them by helping others.

Other Subjects:

History - Children will become history detectives to discover events that happened beyond living memory. We will look at The Great Fire of London, Remembrance Day and The Gunpowder Plot.
Geography -  Name, locate & identify characteristics of the 4 countries &capital cities of the UK and its surrounding seas

Art- Continue to develop our drawing skills using different patterns an shapes.

PSHE - During circle time this half term will look at how we play at playtime and how we deal with any conflict using the Restorative Approach.

Science-  Our focus this half term will be plants.



Year 2 PE is timetabled on Wednesday.

Please ensure your child's PE kit is in school on Wednesdays.

PE kit is white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps / trainers.  During the winter, children may wear black or blue jogging bottoms.

Our homework for this half term is:

Homework is given out on a Friday. Children will be given Maths or English, which is an extension of what we have been learning in class.

Spellings are written on a Friday and checked on a Wednesday. Please make sure your child's homework book are in school on a Friday.

The children should continue to practice learning their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
