This half term we are learning:


  • Week 1-2: Ratio and Proportion/converting units of measure
  • Week 3-4: Geometry
  • Week 5-6: Measurement


  • Week 1-4: Drew Daywalt – Crayons series and The Legend That Is Rock, Paper Scissors. We will be planning some creative writing and working on conveying character through vocabulary, punctuation/grammar and dialogue. 
  • Week 5-6: We will be looking at and writing our own balanced arguments - linked to our Science topic - Evolution. 

RE:       Jesus, Son of God

  • To reflect on what lent means to different people

  • To understand why people sacrifice things during lent

  • To know that Jesus’ miracles led many to believe that he was the Son of God

  • To understand why Jesus washed the disciples’ feet - Reflect on the meaning this has for us

  • To know about the Passion and Death of Jesus and consider its importance for us

  • To understand and reflect on what the Resurrection of Jesus means for us

Other Subjects:

  • Science - Evolution 
  • Geography - South America geographical comparison reports
  • History - Wars through the ages
  • Art - South American Molas art and collages inspired by Beatriz Milhazes
  • Computing - Video capturing and editing




Year 6 PE is timetabled on Monday. 

Please ensure your child's PE kit is in school on the above day.

PE kit is white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps / trainers.  During the winter, children may wear black or blue jogging bottoms.

Our homework for this half term is:

 5 minutes of math battles daily using the prodigy website.

All problems are linked to what we are learning in class. This is a fun way of incorporating maths at home and allowing me to monitor their progress in each topic.

Weekly quizzes on are set on Friday and the deadline is Wednesday.

This is to further support what we are learning in class but to stretch children to think of how and why they know - not just answer the question. 

If your child has any difficulty with logging in or accessing the internet,  they can see me for support in their own time.

Spellings are set each week for children to learn. These will either be from the year 5/6 spelling list or word practicing rules we are investigating in spelling. Children are expected to learn the spelling of the words and write them in context in a sentence.
