Maths: 

Week 1-4: Place Value

  • Numbers to ten million  
  • Compare and order any number 
  • Round any numbers
  • Negative numbers

Week 5-7: Addition & Subtraction

  • Review all methods of solving addition & subtraction
  • Inverse & estimation
  • Problem solving

English:

  • Week 1-2: Poetry 

The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll

  • Week 3-7: Battle Cry

Persuasive speech writing building to a final performance. 

 

RE:       The Kingdom of God

  • To reflect on what the Kingdom of God is like

  • To reflect on the importance of responding to the invitation to the Kingdom

  • To know that everyone is called to enter the Kingdom and reflect on our response

  • To reflect on words and deeds necessary to show commitment to the Kingdom 

  • To know that Jesus’ miracles reflected the beginning of the Kingdom and show us what God is like

  • Art - War Memorial Sketching

PE

Year 6 PE is timetabled on Monday. 

Please ensure your child's PE kit is in school on the above day.

PE kit is white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps / trainers.  During the winter, children may wear black or blue jogging bottoms.

Our homework for this half term is:

 5 minutes of math battles daily using the prodigy website.

All problems are linked to what we are learning in class. This is a fun way of incorporating maths at home and allowing me to monitor their progress in each topic.

Weekly quizzes on www.diagnosticquestions.com are set on Friday and the deadline is Wednesday.

This is to further support what we are learning in class but to stretch children to think of how and why they know - not just answer the question. 

If your child has any difficulty with logging in or accessing the internet,  they can see me for support in their own time.

Spellings are set each week for children to learn. These will either be from the year 5/6 spelling list or word practicing rules we are investigating in spelling. Children are expected to learn the spelling of the words and write them in context in a sentence.
