St Ambrose Catholic Primary School

Grow through the love of Jesus

Target Setting

The Aims are:

  • to raise standards for all
  • to motivate and involve children in their learning
  • to inform and involve parents in their child’s learning
  • to promote a 'Growth Mindset'

It is about shining the light on the positive!

Academic Work

Teacher's assess what  a child can do, and what they need to do to move to close their gaps. Teachers set challenging but achievable  targets in reading, writing and mathematics each half term, and work with the children to complete these.

The system facilitates sharing these targets with parents so that you can help your child to achieve even more quickly.

Marking and feedback to children are very focused and termly mentoring meetings review what has been achieved and what needs to be done next.

See marking policy

Attitude and behaviour

We will measure and record children’s attitude to school life, and set targets for improvement if they are needed.

Many aspects of our routine come under this heading, for example wearing of correct uniform, bringing in to school PE kit, attendance and punctuality.
