English: Recount – Newspaper reports

This half term we will be reading the book ‘Toys in Space’ by Mini Grey. The children will end this unit by writing a newspaper report.

We will be focusing on using:

  • Capital letters for name of people, places and the pronoun I
  • The conjunction ‘and’ and ‘because’ to link words and clauses
  • Full stops and question marks
  • Adjectives to describe
  • Composing and sequencing their own newspaper report
  •  

Maths: Place value (within 50)

  • Numbers to 50
  • Tens and ones
  • Represent numbers to 50
  • One more one less
  • Compare objects within 50
  • Order numbers within 50
  • Count in 2s
  • Count in 5s

 

RE: Following Jesus

  • How Jesus chose some of the first disciples
  • The Good Samaritan
  • Good Friday

PE

Year 1 PE is timetabled on 

Please ensure your child's PE kit is in school on the above day.

PE kit is white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps / trainers.  During the winter, children may wear black or blue jogging bottoms.

CLASS PHOTOS

In Year 1, we have been working super hard all half term and today we became OFFICIAL SUPERHEROES!

We took part in many activities that tested out superhero strength.

 

From freeing our friend Bucky from behind the brick wall to helping Aquaman save the sea creatures from an ancient sea monster.

The children had so much fun taking part in our Superhero day and thank you parents/carers for providing the children with excellent costumes.
